I had the priviledge of serving with
Jose in El Paso, Texas about 40 years ago. I found him to be a very efficient
technician in the emergency room of the William Beaumont Army Hospital, but knew
little of his prior POW experience in Korea. As a staff duty nurse, he helped me a lot in
the clinical area of my experience and demonstrated great leadership and organizational
skills in our department. He was always a "go-getter" who pulled no
punches to get the job done right. Later, after over 20 years in the U.S.Army, Jose Mares
retired as a Master Sergeant. |
|
|
He then went onto and graduated
from Tennessee Temple Schools in Tennessee and holds a Master's degree in Religious
Education as well as an Honorary Doctorate from Faith Bible Theological Seminary. |
|
|
I have recently discovered that Jose
made a contribution to the Veterans History Project which is in the American
Folklife Center of the Library of Congress. (See link below) |
|
|
Jose Mares is now a missionary
evangelist who conducts meetings both in the US and foreign countries. He is fluent in
both English and Spanish and is available for mission conferences, revivals, and patriotic
rallies. |
